랜덤 포레스트를 이용한 청년층의 진로미결정 예측 요인 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 최근 심화되고 있는 청년층의 진로미결정 현상을 다각적으로 이해하기 위해 랜덤 포레스트(Random Forest) 알고리즘을 적용하여 예측 요인들을 도출하고, 그 중요도를 분석하였다. 진로미결정은 학업중단과 사회로의 진입 지연 등 개인의 삶에 중대한 영향을 미치는 문제로, 청년층의 비선형적 요인의 복합적 상호작용에서 기인한다. 본 연구는 한국교육고용패널(KEEP II) 2020 데이터를 활용하여, 청년층이 진로결정 과정에서 어떤 부분들이 영향을 끼치는지 조명하고, 그 결과 도출된 주요 예측 요인들의 경향성을 평가하였다. 분석 결과, 자신의 적성과 진로에 대한 명확한 이해 부족, 미래에 대한 불안, 그리고 사회적 불평등에 대한 인식이 청년들의 진로미결정에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 진로 상담 및 교육적 개입에 있어 반성적 고찰과 새로운 접근 방식을 요구하며, 특히 청년층이 직면한 심리적 불안과 환경적 장애로 인식하는 요인을 극복할 수 있는 전략적 지원이 필요함을 시사한다. 본 연구는 청년층의 진로미결정 문제를 다루는 학문적 논의에 기여하며, 정책과 제도의 방향성을 제시하는 데 중요한 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims to comprehensively understand the increasingly prevalent phenomenon of career indecision among youth by analyzing the importance of predictive factors derived using the Random Forest algorithm. Career indecision is a significant issue that impacts individuals’ lives, leading to delays in academic completion and entry into the workforce. It stems from the complex interactions of non-linear factors affecting youth. Using data from the 2020 Korean Education and Employment Panel (KEEP II), this study highlights the factors influencing youth in their career decision-making process and evaluates the tendencies of the key predictive factors identified. The analysis reveals that a lack of clear understanding of one’s aptitude and career path, anxiety about the future, and perceptions of social inequality significantly impact youth career indecision. These findings suggest the need for reflective consideration and innovative approaches in career counseling and educational interventions, emphasizing the necessity for strategic support to help youth overcome psychological anxiety and environmental barriers. This study contributes to the academic discourse on youth career indecision and serves as an important resource for informing policy and institutional directions.
