수도권과 비수도권 지역 간 대학 만족도 격차 분해 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 한국교육고용패널 II(KEEP II) 데이터를 활용하여 수도권과 비수도권 지역 간 대학 만족도 격차를 분해 분석하였다. 이를 위하여 랜덤포레스트를 활용하여 대학 만족도를 예측하는 주요 설명변수를 탐색하였으며, 해당 변수를 Blinder-Oaxaca 분해 분석 모형에 투입하여 수도권과 비수도권 지역 간 대학 만족도 격차를 설명 가능한 부분과 설명 불가능한 부분으로 분해 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 수도권 지역의 대학 만족도가 비수도권 지역의 대학 만족도보다 높게 나타났으며, 설명 가능한 부분이 약 34%, 설명 불가능한 부분이 약 66%로 나타났다. 또한 수도권과 비수도권 지역 간 학생 및 학교 특성을 치환한 시뮬레이션 결과, 일정 부분의 격차가 해소되었으나, 대학 만족도 격차는 여전히 존재함을 확인하였다. 이와 같은 결과를 토대로 본 연구에서는 수도권 대학 집중 해소를 위한 정책적 시사점과 대학 차원의 노력에 대한 시사점을 제공하고자 하였다.

This study investigated the analysis of the gap in university satisfaction among university students between the metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas using data from the Korean Education and Employment Panel II (KEEP II). To this end, major variables were predicted through random forests and put into the Blinder-Oaxaca model to decompose and analyze the university satisfaction of university students between the metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. As a result of the analysis, there was a gap in university satisfaction among university students between the metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas, and as a result of decomposing this gap, about 34% and 66% could not be explained. In addition, simulations replacing student and school characteristics in universities located in the metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas confirmed that the gap was partially resolved, but the gap in university satisfaction still existed. Through these results, this study attempted to provide policy implications for the effectiveness of various policies and countermeasures to resolve differences in educational conditions in non-metropolitan universities and the concentration of universities in the metropolitan area.
