직업계고 전문교과 교사들의 전문성 보유 수준과 인식

Abstract

전문교과 교사들의 전문성을 교육학적 전문성과 직업적 전문성으로 나눠서 보유도를 조사한 결과 직업적 전문성 보유도가 교육학적 전문성 보유도에 비해 낮게 나타났음. 교육학적 전문성 중에서는 ‘디지털 기술의 교육적 활용’ 보유도가 가장 낮았으며, 직업적 전문성 중에서는 ‘산업현장과 유기적인 협력’ 보유도가 가장 낮았음. 교원 자격 취득 경로에 따라 직업적 전문성의 하위 영역별 차이를 분석하였을 때 사범대학을 졸업하고 전문교과 교사로 입직한 경우가 비사범대학 교직 과정 졸업자나 교육대학원 졸업자에 비해 직업적 전문성이 전반적으로 낮게 나타났음. 전문교과 교사로서 학교 현장에서 기대하고 있는 실무 역량을 교원 양성 과정에서 충분히 기르기 어려운 상황으로 보임. 따라서 전문교과 교원들이 교육학적 전문성과 직업적 전문성을 균형있게 함양할 수 있도록 교원 양성 과정과 재교육 시스템의 변화가 시급히 필요함.

An investigation into the level of professionalism among vocational subject teachers, categorized into educational and vocational expertise, revealed that vocational expertise is generally lower than educational expertise. Within educational expertise, the lowest proficiency was observed in 'utilizing digital technology in education.' In terms of vocational professionalism, the weakest area was 'effective collaboration with industry.' Upon analyzing the differences in vocational professionalism sub-areas according to teacher qualification acquisition pathways, it was found that those who graduated from teachers colleges and began their careers as vocational subject teachers generally demonstrated lower vocational expertise compared to graduates from non-teacher college education programs or graduate schools of education. The findings suggest difficulties in adequately cultivating the practical skills expected in school settings through existing teacher training programs. Consequently, there is a critical need to reform both the initial teacher training and ongoing professional development systems to ensure vocational subject teachers develop balanced expertise in both educational and vocational professionalism.
