Explainable boosting machine을 적용한 직업계고 학생의 수학 기초학력 도달 주요 예측변인 탐색

Abstract

본 연구는 직업계고 학생의 수학 기초학력 도달과 관련된 주요 변인을 탐색하기 위한 목적에서 수행되었다. 본 연구는 분석을 위해 PISA 2022 한국 학생 데이터를 활용하여 설명가능한 머신러닝 분석방법인 ‘Explainable boosting machine’을 적용하였다. 본 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 직업계고 학생의 기초학력 도달에 있어서 ‘수학 교과, 과제, 학습에 대한 효능감’이 가장 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 직업계고 학생의 기초학력 도달은 ‘교과 수업 및 학습’과 연계된 디지털 및 ICT 활용과 정적인 관계를 보였으나, 학습과 관련이 없는 일반적인 디지털 및 ICT 활용은 부적인 관계를 보였다. 셋째, 초등학생 시절 기초학력을 보완하는 교육경험이 있는 학생이 현시점에서 기초학력에 도달할 가능성이 높았다. 마지막으로, 직업계고 학생의 기초학력 지원을 위해 가정환경은 중요하며, 부모의 교육수준이나 임금과 같은 사회경제적배경보다 학생의 학교생활에 대한 ‘따뜻한 관심’이 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 분석결과를 바탕으로 직업계고 학생의 수학 기초학력 성취 기제를 전반적으로 이해하고, 이들의 수학 기초학력 도달 가능성을 높이기 위한 가정 및 학교 차원에서의 교육적 개입과 정책적 시사점을 도출하였다.

This study explored the experiences of vocational counselors working at vocational training institutions and their job performance, with the aim of uncovering the significance of these experiences. Accordingly, the study findings provide insights into improving the work environment for vocational counselors and enhancing the effectiveness of vocational training by strengthening counseling services within the training institutions. In-depth interviews were conducted with five vocational counselors, and the data were analyzed using qualitative case study methods. The results revealed that vocational counselors’ job experiences could be categorized into four main themes, 14 subthemes, and 36 lower-level themes. The four main themes identified were difficulties arising from diverse and unstructured tasks, challenges in performing counseling duties, the need for support to enhance counseling expertise, and varying levels of job satisfaction as vocational counselors. The actual experiences of vocational counselors in vocational training institutions were examined, and the study findings are expected to serve as foundational data for enhancing the effectiveness of counseling within these institutions and the systematic implementation of vocational training.
