학자금 대출과 대학생의 취업 준비 및 성과

Abstract

사회적 맥락에서 학자금 대출을 받은 학생들의 학업성과 및 노동시장 이행 실태를 장학금 수령자와 부모로부터 지원받는 학생들 간에 비교함으로써 학자금 대출 학생들의 성과를 분석·평가하고, 이를 토대로 학자금 지원 제도의 개편 및 보완 방향에 대한 정책적 시사점을 모색할 필요성이 있다. 본 연구는 학자금 대출이 학업의 충실성, 취업준비활동, 네트워킹, 주당 근로시간 등의 대학생활과, 평점, 영어성적 등의 학업 성취도에 미친 영향을 분석하고, 졸업 후 초기 노동시장 이행에 미치는 영향을 종합적으로 분석함으로써 학자금 대출의 효과를 실증적으로 제시하고 학자금 지원제도의 개선과 관련한 정책적 시사점을 모색하였다. 대학생의 취업 준비 활동은 자료의 제약으로 대학생활과 학업 성취도 영역으로 제한하여 살펴보았다. 노동시장성과는 취업과 양질의 일자리 취업여부로 분석하였다.

This research is conducted in order to analyze how the student loan can affect college students seeking jobs and accomplishment. After a rapid raise in college tuition in the mid-2000s, there were concerns about college students preparing for the future due to financial hardship. Against this backdrop, Korean government established ‘Korea Student Aid Foundation’ in 2009. The foundation runs student loan such as Income Contingent Loan (ICL), Direct Loan and Loan for Rural Students addition to National scholarship. There are pros and cons about student loan policy since it can help relieve student’s burden but it also can give burden of repayment.
