The Present and Future of Secondary Vocational Education in Korea

Abstract

This book, titled “The Present and Future of Secondary Vocational Education in Korea,” was designed to provide information on the major policy trends and issues related to Korea’s secondary vocational education to international readers. Despite the years of accomplishments achieved, and the experiences and changes that secondary vocational education in Korea have undergone, resources in English have not been available. In particular, many developing countries want to learn how Korea’s vocational education, which paved the way for industrialization in the past, will contribute and contributes now to the nation and society as a whole based on present and future visions and strategies. In addition, the leading model of Korea’s school-based vocational education, which focuses on Meister high schools, is drawing increasing attention from developed countries, including Germany, which already had an ideal model for vocational education.
