가정배경이 노동시장성과에 미치는 영향 : 교육성과를 매개로

Abstract

본 연구는 한국교육고용패널조사(KEEP) 1차(2004)년도 학생, 가구데이터와 수능데이터, 그리고 청년층 노동시장 이행 추적 조사(2019) 데이터를 활용하여 가정배경이 노동시장성과에 미치는 종합적인 영향과 개천 龍 특성을 초기교육성과, 중기교육성과, 노동시장성과로 구분하여 분석하였다. 가정배경이 교육성과를 매개로 노동시장성과에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 가구소득, 부모교육, 사교육 투자로 설명한 가정배경은 초기교육성과, 중기교육성과를 거쳐 노동시장에서의 양적·질적 성과에 분명한 영향을 미치고 있으며, 좋은 가정배경을 가진 학생이 높은 노동시장성과를 획득할 가능성이 높았다. 초기교육성과 상위 25%, 중기교육성과 상위 23%, 노동시장성과 상위 25%인 개천 龍 특성을 분석한 결과, 가구소득이 하위 25%에 해당할지라도 가정생활에서 안정감을 높여주려는 부모의 노력, 학생에게 흥미를 유발시키며 동시에 자존감을 높여주려는 학교 및 가정에서의 노력이 더욱 중요할 수 있음을 발견하였다.

This study is to examine the overall impact of family background on labor market performance. For this study, we utilized data from the Korea Education Employment Panel Survey (KEEP) conducted in 2019 as well as college entrance exam data. The result of this study demonstrates that family background, which was measured by household income, parental education, and investment in private education, is associated with the quantitative and qualitative performance in the labor market through educational performance in early stage and middle stage. The result also indicates that students with higher levels of family background are more likely to achieve higher levels of labor market performance. According to the analysis of students’ levels of resiliency, even though students are from the bottom 25% family in terms of household income, they are likely to show a good level of performance in labor market if there are parents’ efforts to enhance the sense of stability in family life and also to raise children’s self-esteem at home as well as in school..
