대학원 학위과정 외국인 유학생의 진로선호 탐색과 인적자원 활용 방안 연구

Abstract

다문화 시대, 인구절벽 시대 등 시대적 변화에 따라 달라지는 교육 및 고용 현실을 반영한 연구가 필요하며, 특히 우리 사회의 또 다른 인적자본이 될 수 있을 고학력 외국인 유학생에 대한 진로 선호 및 한국 노동시장에 대한 인식 그리고 산업계의 요구에 대한 분석이 필요한 시점이다. 현재 우리나라는 외국인 근로자에게 고용지원 서비스나 외국국적동포 취업 교육 등은 제공하고 있기는 하나 국내에서 학위를 받은 고학력 외국인 유학생을 대상으로 비자 완화나 취업교육 등의 서비스를 따로 제공하고 있지는 않다. 따라서 외국인 교육-고용 연계 제도에 대한 논의 및 국내 법령 검토 그리고 교육-고용 연계가 활발한 국가들의 제도 및 법령 등에 대한 검토도 이루어질 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 점점 대학의 의존도가 학부에서 대학원 유학생으로 옮겨가는 현실과 노동시장 활용성을 고려하여 학부생을 제외한 대학원 유학생에 한정하여 논의를 진행하였다.

The numbers of international students in higher education institutions in Korea have been steadily increasing, and in particular, the proportion of international students in graduate levels is increasing. Despite much research on the experience of international students in Korean higher education institutions, relatively few studies have focused on their career preference or career choices after completing their degrees. This study is to understand the career preference of international graduate students in Korea and their perceptions on Korean labor market. We first examined the patterns of international graduate students in higher education institutions in Korea by country of origin, the fields of study, and the levels of education. Also this study investigated the policy of recruiting international students in Korea over last 20 years and showd how the changes of policy have affect the numbers of international students in Korea, especially the graduate levels. Moreover, we analyzed the career preference and the employment status of international graduate students in higher education institutions in Korea as well as students' perceptions on Korean labor market. ...
