전문대학 수업연한의 탄력적 운영 방안

Abstract

이 연구는 전문대학이 미래산업사회에서 필요로 하는 유능한 전문기술인의 양성기능을 담당하고 있는 전문대학이 그 설립 목적을 달성하고 그에 따른 고등교육단계에서의 전문직업교육을 효과적으로 수행해 낼 수 있도록 하기 위한 방편으로서의 수업연한의 탄력적인 운영 방안을 모색하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위하여, 다음과 같은 목표들을 달성하고자 여러 가지 연구 활동이 계획？수행되었다. (1) 전문대학 수업연한의 탄력적 운영에 관련되는 배경적 요인들에 대한 심층적인 분석 (2) 전문대학 수업연한의 탄력적 운영과 관련한 전문대학 현장의 요구와 실태의 조사 (3) 전문대학 수업연한과 관련하여 외국의 고등교육기관에서 운영되고 있는 수업연한 실제에 대한 분석 (4) 전문대학의 교육목적을 달성하기 위한 수업연한의 탄력적 운영 방안과 관련한 정책의 제안

Study Backgrounds Currently, most Korean professional colleges are adopting a two-year study duration type, while some of them are choosing a three-year operational mechanism. Interestingly, it is pointed out that the current study duration of two-years in these colleges might be a bottleneck in educating professional and technical manpower who are thought to be the major sources for the national prosperity. The following situations are addressing further that this issue be corrected for the educational improvement in these two-year colleges: (1) Amounting necessities of reform in the educational structure of two-year colleges; (2) More requests to establish the revised educational goals for these two-year colleges enough to meet the educational needs from the rapid changing society and from the labor market; (3) Emphasis on an adoptable curriculum to train the mid-level technicians in two-year colleges; (4) Advent of the possibility of using new educational techniques and teaching methods for better educational effectiveness. To answer for these constructive aspects and necessities, it is proposed to have more flexibilities in managing the study duration system. In consideration of these circumstances, the following study objectives were sought for: (1) Analysis of the background aspects seated in the current length of study in two-year colleges; (2) Surveys on and understanding of the current situations that these two-year colleges are facing in relation to adopting the current study duration type; (3) Reviews of the foreign study duration system in Japan and the United States of America, especially to understanding something of the operational aspects; (4) Making policy suggestions to make the study length regulation flexible for the improvement of two-year college education.
