진로교육 및 활동 경험이 고교생의 진로개발역량에 미치는 영향 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 한국교육고용패널 II의 1, 2차 년도 자료에 대하여 이중차분모형을 활용하여 학교에서 제공하는 진로교육 및 활동이 고교생의 진로개발역량에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 고교생들을 대상으로 한 다양한 진로교육 및 활동 프로그램 중 ‘진로동아리’와 ‘현장직업체험’, ‘직업실무체험’, ‘진로캠프’의 효과성이 유의하게 나타난 반면, ‘진로와 직업 수업’, ‘창의적 체험활동 중 진로활동’, ‘진로심리검사’, ‘진로상담’, ‘직업인 멘토 특강’, ‘현장견학’, ‘학과 체험’ 과 진로개발역량 간의 유의한 관계는 확인하기 어려웠다. 둘째, 현재 학교에서 시행 중인 대부분의 진로교육 및 활동이 진로개발역량의 하위 요인 중 하나인 ‘진로 디자인과 준비’ 역량 제고에는 효과적이지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, ‘진로동아리’ 및 ‘직업실무체험’의 경우 고교 졸업후 진로계획에 따라 진로교육 및 활동의 효과성이 차별적으로 나타남을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 분석 자료의 제약으로 진로교육 및 활동의 진로개발역량 제고 효과에 대한 보다 엄밀한 추정에는 이르지 못한 한계가 있다. 그러나 제한적으로 이루어져 온 진로교육 및 활동의 효과성을 실증적으로 분석함으로써 향후의 진로교육 정책 수립 및 실행에 있어 유용한 시사점을 도출하고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the effect of career education and activities on high school students’ career development competencies. To achieve the goal, this study exploited the 1st & 2nd years of dataset of Korean Education & Employment Panel (KEEP II) utilizing Difference-in-Differences(DID) and Difference-in-Difference-in-Differences(DDD). The results of this study first showed that ‘Career club’, ‘Field Job Experience’, ‘Simulated Work Experience’, and ‘Career Camp’ were effective in improving high school students’ career development competencies, while other career activities were not statistically related to career development competencies of high school students. Second, none of career education activities was effective in improving career design and preparation, which consists of career development competency. Last but not least, the effect of ‘Career club’ and ‘Simulated Work Experience’ showed differential effects on career development competencies of high school students based on whether they would plan university entrance or employment(entrepreneurship) after highs school graduation. Above results suggested that it is needed to evaluate the causal effect of career education & activities and endeavor to improve the quality of career education with further studies with this issue.
