캡스톤 디자인 수업 경험이 대학생의 학업 및 진로준비도에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 캡스톤 디자인 수업이 여러 대학과 전공으로 확산되고 있는 시점에서 캡스톤 디자인 수업 경험이 4년제 대학생의 학업(평점 및 전공만족도) 및 진로준비도(진로결정여부 및 취업준비행동)에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 정책적 시사점을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국직업능력연구원이 제공하는 ‘한국교육고용패널조사Ⅱ’의 3∼5차년도 자료를 활용하여 통상최소자승회귀분석과 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시했고, 표본선택편의 문제를 해소하고자 경향점수 매칭 방식을 활용하였다. 분석 결과 첫째, 캡스톤 디자인 수업을 경험한 학생들의 평점(GPA)과 전공만족도가 캡스톤디자인 수업을 경험하지 못한 학생들에 비해 높은 수준인 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 캡스톤디자인 수업을 경험한 학생들이 캡스톤디자인 수업을 경험하지 못한 학생들에 비해 진로를 결정했을 확률이 높고, 취업준비행동을 보다 적극적으로 취하는 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통해 캡스톤 디자인 수업이 의도한 목표를 달성하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 캡스톤 디자인 수업의 성과가 여러 대학과 다양한 전공에서 확산될 수 있도록 정책적 지원이 필요함을 제안하였다. 또한, 캡스톤 디자인 수업이 그 목적에 비춰 바람직한 효과를 내고 있는지 체계적이고 지속적인 점검이 필요함을 제안하였다. 이와 함께 본 연구에서 활용한 데이터와 연구방법을 보완한 후속 연구를 제언하였다.

This study aims to suggest policy implications by analyzing the impact of capstone design experience on the study (rating and major satisfaction) and career preparation (career decision, job preparation behavior) of university students at a time when capstone design is spreading to various universities and majors. To this end, the 3rd to 5th year data of the KEEP II provided by KRIVET were used to conduct ordinary least square and logistic regression analysis, and propensity score matching was used to solve the problem of sample selection bias. As a result of the analysis, the GPA and major satisfaction of students who have experienced capstone design are higher than those who have not experienced capstone design. Next, it was found that students who experienced capstone design were more likely to have decided their career paths than students who did not experience capstone design, and took more active job preparation behavior. This shows that the capstone design is achieving its intended goal. Based on the research results, this study suggested the need for policy support so that the performance of the capstone design could be spread across various universities and various majors. Also, it was suggested that a systematic and continuous check is needed to see if the capstone design has a desirable effect in light of the educational purpose. In addition, a follow-up study that supplemented the data and research method used in this study was suggested.
