대학생의 진로준비도가 초기 노동시장 성과에 미치는 영향 분석

Abstract

본 연구는 대학생의 진로준비도가 초기 노동시장 성과에 미치는 영향을 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구에서 주목하는 진로준비도는 진로결정 여부, 진로 및 취·창업 과목 수강 수준, 진로 및 취·창업서비스 경험 수준의 세 가지 유형을 포함하며, 초기 노동시장 성과는 취업 여부와 취업의 질적 성과를 나타내는 정규직 여부, 전공과 일의 일치 수준, 업무 만족도를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 한국직업능력연구원의 ‘한국교육고용패널Ⅱ(KEEPⅡ)’ 자료를 활용하였으며, 분석방법으로 로지스틱 회귀모형(Logistic regression)과 통상최소자승회귀모형(Ordinary Least Square model)을 사용하였다. 아울러 대학생의 진로준비도가 학생개인 및 학교 특성에 의해 결정될 가능성을 고려하여 선택 편의 문제를 보정하고 엄밀한 효과 추정을 하기위해 경향점수매칭법(Propensity Score Matching)을 활용하였다. 주요 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 진로준비도는 초기 노동시장에서 취업 여부에 긍정적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 진로결정 여부는 기본 회귀모형에서 업무만족도에 긍정적 관계를 나타냈으나, 경향점수를 활용한 분석에서는 취업의 질적 성과에 통계적으로 유의미한 결과가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 진로 및 취·창업 과목 수강 수준은 전공과 직업 일치 수준에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 진로 및 취· 창업 서비스 경험 수준은 정규직 여부와 전공과 직업 일치 수준에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구 결과에 기반한 정책적 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학생 시기 진로준비도에 대한 관심을 높이고 학생 맞춤형 진로교육 및 취업지원서비스 제공이 필요하다. 둘째, 진로 및 취·창업 과목 및 서비스의 질을 제고하고, 학생 참여를 독려하기 위한 노력이 필요하다. 셋째, 중등교육에서 실질적인 진로탐색과정이 이루어지도록 정책적 지원이 필요하다.

This study aims to analyze the effects of university students’ career preparation on early labor market performances. The career preparation level includes three types (career decision, career/employment course level, and career/employment service experience level) and early labor market performances, which means employment and qualitative performances of employment, are analyzed as regular workers, the level of the job-major match, and job satisfaction. This study utilized Logistic Regression and Ordinary Least Square model, using KEEPⅡ, for analysis. In addition, Propensity Score Matching is used to correct selection bias and strictly estimate effects in consideration of the possibility that university students’ career preparation will be determined by individual and school characteristics. The results are as follows. First, career preparation has positive effects on employment in the early labor market. Second, career decisions showed positive effects on job satisfaction in the basic regression model, but analysis using propensity score matching did not show statistically significant results on the qualitative performance of employment. Third, career/employment course level has positive effects on the level of the job-major match. Fourth, it was found that career/employment service experience level has positive effects on the status of regular workers and the level of the job-major match. Based on the results, this study suggested the policy implications as follows. First, it is necessary to raise interest in career preparation during university courses and to provide customized career/employment services for students. Second, the quality of career, career/employment courses, and programs needs to improve, and more students should be encouraged to participate. Finally, policy support is needed to ensure a practical career exploration process in secondary education.
