대학원 경쟁력과 고급 연구인력의 확보를 위해서는 국가의 고등교육 투자가 절실하며 예비 고급 인력인 박사과정 학생들을 위한 안정적인 재정 지원이 필요

일반대학원 박사학위자 중 70%가 본인 또는 가족 지원으로 학비 조달

국내 메이저 대학원생의 학비 조달 시 장학금의 비중(48%)은 미국 전체 평균(76.8%)에도 못 미치는 실정임.

세계 주요 대학에서처럼 우수 학생 유치를 위한 펠로우십제도의 정착이 필요

Competitiveness of graduate schools forms the foundation of national competitiveness and it is a key to securing qualified manpower.

In order to secure the competitiveness of graduate schools and qualified research manpower, it is imperative that countries invest in higher education, and that stable financial assistance is provided to doctoral students.

70% of doctoral students in general graduate schools bear the tuition fees by themselves or with support from family.

Among graduate students in the major Korean graduate schools, scholarship as a proportion of tuition fee is 48% and this is significantly short of the U.S. average of 76.8%.

As in the leading universities around the globe, the fellowship system needs to take root in Korea.
