전공-직업 일치의 장기적 노동시장 성과에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 논문은 노동시장 성과지표로서 임금에 주목하여 누적적 전공-직업 일치의 임금효과를 추정하고, 나아가 장기간에 걸쳐 축적된 직업적 경험의 내용이 임금에 미치는 효과에 대해 실증분석을 시도한 것이다. 특히 지속적으로 노동시장 내에서 경력이 변화되는 과정에서 단기적인 불일치와 상관없이 장기적으로 전공과 일치된 직무를 수행한 경력과 임금의 관계가 안정적인가를 1982-1992-2002년의 4년제 대학교 졸업자 계층을 대상으로 한 회고조사(recall survey) 결과를 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 현 시점에서 전공과 일치하는 직무에 종사할 경우 임금수준이 높았다. 그에 덧붙여서 전체 경력에서의 누적적인 전공일치의 정도가 임금에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것도 확인할 수 있었다. 또 동일한 결과를 노동시장 내 경력이 상이한 모든 코호트에서 얻음으로써 장기적으로 보면 전공일치 경력과 임금은 서로 비례하는 안정적인 관계라는 점을 확인할 수 있었다.

This study is to estimate the effect of accumulated major-job match with a focus on wage as an indicator of labor market outcomes. We also tried to analyze the long-term vocational experience has on wage. In particular, the stability of the long-term relationship between the job match and income regardless of short-term mismatch in the process of constantly changing careers is analyzed using the results of a recall survey, targeting four-year university graduates of the years 1982, 1992, and 2002. The result showed that the wage level is high in case they work on job matching with one's major. Also, the higher the level of the match, the higher the wage premium. We found the same pattern from the entire cohort, which has a different career within the labor market. Moreover, even in cases in which separate cohorts and major groups are considered, the long-term matching effect was found significant.
