한국 박사노동시장의 성별·고용형태별 임금격차

Abstract

본 연구는 박사노동시장의 특성을 분석하기 위해 성별·고용형태별 임금격차를 분해하였다. 일반 근로자에 비해 보다 동질적인(homogenious) 박사표본을 사용하여 미관측 이질성(unobserved heterogeneity)을 통제하였으며, 성향점수매칭(PSM)을 다양한 임금분해방법과 결합함으로써 선택성(selection bias)이 교정된 분석결과를 도출하였다. 박사학위 보유자의 성별격차를 분포적 접근법(distributional approach)인 RIF 임금분해를 활용하여 분석한 결과, 명백한 밑바닥 일자리(sticky floor) 효과와 제한적인 유리천장(glass ceiling) 효과를 확인하였다. 또한 일반화 임금분해를 통한 고용형태별 임금격차를 분석한 결과 박사노동시장에서의 비정규직 차별은 상당하며, 다만 STEM 부문에서 여타 평균적인 정도에 비해 다소 양호한 수준임을 보여 주었다. 이러한 고학력 노동시장 집단 간에 나타나는 임금격차를 완화하기 위해서는 처우개선을 위한 법·제도적인 기반구축, 합리적인 임금체계의 도입 등이 요구된다.

Our study decomposes the wage gap by gender and employment type to analyze the characteristics of the Korean PhD labor market. Unobserved heterogeneity is controlled by employing a more homogeneous PhD holders sample compared to general workers, and analysis results in which selection bias is corrected are derived by combining PSM with various wage decomposition techniques. As a result of decomposing the gender gap among PhD holders using RIF decomposition, a distributional approach, a clear sticky floor and limited glass ceiling are empirically confirmed. And, the generalized wage decomposition employed to analyze the employment type wage gap indicates that there are serious discrimination against temporary contracts in the PhD labor market, but STEM field is found to be somewhat better than other averages. In order to resolve this wage disparity against minority groups in the highly educated labor market, it is necessary to establish legal and institutional foundation for improving working conditions, and introduce reasonable wage structure.
