빈곤 청소년의 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는 요인

Abstract

이 연구는 빈곤 청소년의 학업성취도에 영향을 주는 변인을 탐색하기 위해, 한국교육고용패널 1차년도(2004)도 중학교 3학년 학생 데이터를 활용하였다. 사전분석으로 빈곤이 학업성취도에 영향을 미치는지 분석한 결과, 가족구조 및 부모교육수준과 함께 영향을 주는 변인임을 확인하였다. 이 연구의 특징은 빈곤 학생의 학업성취 영향요인을 살펴보기 위해 비빈곤 학생과 비교분석을 시도하였다는 것인데 비교 분석결과, 첫째 부모의 교육수준이 미치는 영향이 빈곤 청소년에게 더 크게 나타났으며, 둘째, 가족구조가 미치는 영향도 비빈곤 청소년에게서 더 크게 나타났다. 셋째, 과외경험은 두 집단 모두 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤는데, 빈곤 청소년에게서 더 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 가족관계 및 인지적 자극 중 부모의 시간 투자 등과 관련된 자극이 비빈곤 청소년에게는 긍정적인 관계를 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 빈곤 청소년에게는 부정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그 밖에 비빈곤 청소년은 빈곤 청소년과 달리 성별, 선생님관계, 아동감독등의 변수가 통계적으로 유의하게 영향을 미치는 점에서 차이가 있었다.

The objective of this study is to explore the variables which affect the achievement for poor adolescent student using KEEP 2004 data. As an initial analysis, we found that poverty is an important variable for student achievement with other variables such as family structure and parents’ education level. The characteristics of this study are to compare poor students with other students for investigating variables which influence student achievement. There are several findings as follows; First, parents’ educational level is more important factor for poor students Second, the effect of family structure is more powerful for poor students Third, private tutoring is positive for both groups, but the effect is more powerful for poor students Fourth, the effect of family relationship and cognitive stimulus is positive for other students, but these are negative for poor students. In addition, gender, teacher relationship, and children supervision are statistically significant factors for other students.
