abstract

The purposes of this study are to suggest directions to promote vocational high schools in the province of Gyeongsangnam-do. The study is conducted through literature review, survey and interview. The results of this study are as follows: ⑴ 4 basic directions, 16 themes, and 64 sub-themes of the vocational high school development are established, and 10 priority sub themes which have performance indexes and implementation plans are selected; ⑵ Development plans for all 56 vocational high schools are designed; ⑶ Development plans for different types of schools such as agricultural high schools, technical high schools, commercial high schools, and home economics high schools are suggested; ⑷ Based on the industrial strategies for 5 regions of the province, a development plan is suggested for each region; ⑸ Administrative and financial strategies are suggested in order to support the development of vocational high schools in Gyeongsangnam-do.
