4년제 대졸자의 대학원 진학 결정요인 분석

Abstract

본 연구의 목적은 4년제 대학 졸업생의 대학원 진학 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하는 것이다. 연구대상은 한국고용정보원 대졸자 직업이동 경로조사 패널자료에서 파악된 2,015명의 대학원 진학자들이었다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 나이, 가구소득, 부모의 교육연수 등 개인 및 가족변인에 따라 대학원 진학여부에 통계적인 차이가 나타났다. 남학생이 여학생보다, 부모의 교육연수가 많을수록, 가구소득이 높을수록 대학원에 진학할 가능성이 높았다. 둘째, 기타 지역에 비하여 대학소재지가 서울일수록 대학원 진학하는 비율이 높았으며, 공학계열 및 자연계열 전공생일수록, 전공 교수진의 능력 및 열의에 만족할수록 대학원 진학을 선택하는 비율이 높았다. 셋째, 대학원 유형별(일반대학원, 특수대학원, 전문대학원) 진학자들의 개인 및 가족, 출신대학 특성 등이 상이하게 나타났는데, 일반대학원진학자의 경우 특수대학원이나 전문대학원에 비해 공학, 자연계열 전공자들이 비슷한 전공을 따라 동일대학으로 진학할 가능성이 높았고, 특수대학원의 경우 타 대학원 비해 다소 연령이 높고, 직장에 재직 중인 시간제 학생일 가능성이 높았으며, 전문대학원의 경우 가구소득과 부모의 높은 교육연수 등 가족관계 변인에 영향을 받는 가능성이 높았다.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the determinant factors that impacted on university graduates’ entrance to graduate schools, using Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey (GOMS) of KEIS. We analyzed 2,015 graduates who moved to three types of graduate schools, which means general graduate school, special graduate school, and professional graduate school. The results are as follow. First, by demographic and family characteristics, male students who had higher degree and educational years of parents in highly income family were more likely to enter graduate schools. Second, by university characteristics, students who graduated in Seoul metropolitan area, majored in science and technology, received the scholarships were more likely to enter graduate schools. Third, depending on the types of graduate school, gender, income, age, and major series have impacted the entrance of students and what types of graduate school they entered.
