상업계고등학교 남녀졸업자의 경력경로 유형과 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

본 연구에서는 상업계고등학교 남녀졸업자의 경력 유형에 따른 취업의 특징을 비교하여 분석하였다. 한국교육고용패널 자료를 이용하여 2004년 고등학교 3학년이었던 남성졸업자 342명, 여성졸업자 737명의 10년간 자료를 분석하였다. 고졸 후 첫해에 바로 취업한 사람의 비율이 여성졸업자의 경우는 32.0%인데 비하여 남성졸업자는 9.4%로 나타났다. 졸업 후 경력의 발전과정을 집단별로 분류한 결과, 남성졸업자는 고졸 집단(51명, 14.9%), 전문대졸 집단(122명 35.7%), 4년제 대졸 집단(48명, 14.0%), 미상(121명, 35.4%) 등으로 나타났고, 여성졸업자는 고졸 집단(177명, 24.0%), 전문대졸 집단(206명 28.0%), 4년제 대졸 집단(73명, 9.9%), 미상(281명, 38.1%) 등으로 나타났다. 각 집단의 10차년 취업의 특성을 비교하면, 여성졸업자의 경우는 고졸 집단이 다른 집단에 비하여 월평균 임금이 낮지 않았고 근속년수는 긴 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 남성졸업자의 경우는 고졸 집단이 월평균 임금이 가장 낮았다. 한편 남성졸업자 집단들은 졸업 후 10차년에 고등학교의 전공 관련 직종에 취업한 비율이 26.5%-38.5% 정도만 되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과는 고졸 취업 확대를 위해서 상업계고등학교에서는 남학생에게 특별히 관심을 가져야 한다는 것을 보여준다. 본 연구의 결론에는 남학생의 취업확대를 위한 방안을 논의하였다.

This study made a comparative analysis of the types and characteristics of career paths of business high school male and female graduates. Using the Korean Education & Employment Panel (KEEP), this study analyzed the 10-year career data of 342 male graduates and 737 female graduates at business high school who were third-year high school students in 2004. Four career types were found among male and female graduates: 'Work after high school graduation' (14.9% of male graduates, 24.0% of female graduates), 'Work after junior college graduation' (35.7%, 28.0%), 'Work after university graduation' (14.0%, 9.9%), and 'Continuously unknown status' (35.4%, 38.1%). The wages of female graduates in 'Work after high school graduation' were not lower than those of other career-type female graduates. On the other hand, the wages of male graduates in 'Work after high school graduation' were lower than those of other career-type male graduates. The job fields of less than 40% of male graduates were related to their major in high school. The results of the analysis show that to expand the employment of high school graduates, special attention should be given to male students in business high schools.
