마이스터고 교육의 취업효과: 특성화고와의 비교를 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 특성화고와 비교하여 마이스터고 교육이 졸업생들의 취업에 미치는 효과를 파악하는데 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해 첫 마이스터고 졸업생이 배출된 2013년에 한국고용정보원이 조사한 ‘고졸자취업진로조사(HSGES)’ 자료를 활용해 CEM 기법을 통한 취업효과를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 사전처치변수(pre-treatment variables)로 성별, 부모의 학력, 가구소득, 졸업전 취업목표 설정여부, 자격취득여부, 학교성적, 현장실습 경험, 전공관련 수상경력, 재학중 일경험에 대해 두 집단 표본을 매칭하였다. 취업성과로는 취업여부, 근속여부, 정규직 여부, 일자리 만족도, 월평균 임금, 업무-전공 일치도에 대해 분석하였다. 분석결과 고졸자의 취업성과를 판단하기 위해 설정한 6개 변수 모두에서 마이스터고 효과가 유의미하게 높게 나타났으며, 특성화고에 비해 10～23% 정도의 프리미엄을 가지고 있었다. 이러한 결과는 그동안의 마이스터고 육성 정책이 고졸취업에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다는 것을 보여준 결과라 할 수 있다.

The purposes of this study are to identify the effects of Meister high schools compared to specialized high schools on employment effect in graduates. In order to analyze average treatment effect on the treated (Meister high school graduates), the study employed the data of the High School Graduates Employment Survey (HSGES) conducted by Korea Employment Information Service in 2013, using the coarsened exact matching method. Meister school first produced graduates in 2013. The pre-treatment variables for matching experimental group with control group included gender, parent's education level, household income, career plan, acquisition of qualifications, school grades, field practice experience, awards related to major, and part-time work experiences during school years. According to the results of this study, the Meister school graduates had advantages of between 10 to 23% in the six employment indexes compared to specialized high school graduates. These results implied that Meister school education had significantly positive effects on the employment of high school graduates.
