A mismatch between a person's job and his/her educational background, major, and skills is known to undermine work performance and organizational effectiveness. KRIVET surveyed 408 workers in major job categories of the big data, secondary battery, and hydrogen sectors to assess the current status of job mismatch with education, major, and skills in new technology sectors. According to our analysis, job mismatch and its degree affect workers' perception of the fit between them and their organization and the fit between them and their jobs, attachment to career and organization, and work performance. These results suggest that detailed information on required skills, appropriate level of education, and relevant majors should be provided to applicants or employees when hiring or rotating workers for major jobs in new technology sectors. It is also important that industries and universities strengthen partnerships to establish field-oriented departments in convergence with new technologies and develop/operate curriculums.
