Analysis of Characteristics and Demands of Teachers Responsible for the Vocational High School Credit System to Ensure Its Stable Operation

Date
2024.07.16
As the need for nurturing future talent capable of responding proactively to rapidly changing industrial structures and employment shifts grows, the High School Credit System was introduced to allow students to design self-directed learning based on their career plans. The full implementation of this system is scheduled to begin with first-year students in 2025. Under this system, students will earn and accumulate credits for courses selected and completed according to their career paths and aptitudes, based on basic competencies and foundational knowledge, in order to graduate. In preparation for the implementation of the system, a survey was conducted of teachers at vocational high schools who are responsible for managing the credit system to identify their characteristics and the associated consulting needs related to its implementation. To ensure the stable operation of the vocational high school credit system, support measures have been proposed, including raising awareness of the credit system among teachers with less teaching experience or those in smaller cities, and developing training programs for teachers with limited experience in managing the credit system.
