Analysis of the Current Status of Practical Skill Assessments in the Selection Examinations for Vocational Subject Teacher Candidates

The practical skill assessments in the vocational subject teacher recruitment examinations lack consistency in their implementation and criteria across different regional education offices and designated subjects. From 2021 to 2024, nine regional education offices conducted practical assessments for a limited number of nine designated subjects to select new teachers. However, discrepancies in the assessment system limited the systematic verification of the practical competencies of prospective vocational teachers. Given the importance of practical skills for vocational subject teachers, the establishment of a consistent and sustainable assessment system for practical skills in recruitment examinations is a necessity. Systematic management of this assessment process would enhance the reliability and fairness of practical evaluations in vocational subjects and strengthen the effectiveness of education in vocational high schools.
