Present of Vocational Research

Vocational research refers to "activities seeking to analyze the dynamic aspects of occupations, such as their creation and development, or the static aspects including the characteristics and structures of occupations in a scientific manner (Han Sang-geun, 2004)." Studying occupations as the main subject is vocational research in a narrow definition, whereas researching various topics relating to occupations is a broad definition of vocational research.

I have looked up the database at the National Assembly Library to check academic documents on vocational research from 2004 until recently and found 27,922 theses and research papers published during the period. Professions, job satisfaction, employment, and job transfer were the topics of active research, but not much research has been done on topics related to vocational research in a narrow term, such as occupational structure, classification, occupational mobility, and job switch. Considering that the narrow definition of vocational research studying occupations as the main topic is closer to the essence of vocational research, more research needs to be done on such topics.
